Risk: historically grown authorizations
Basics SAP Authorizations including Fiori - Online Training
To access business objects or execute SAP transactions, a user requires appropriate authorizations, since business objects or transactions are protected by authorization objects. The authorizations represent instances of the generic authorization objects and are defined according to the employee's activities and responsibilities. The authorizations are combined in an authorization profile that belongs to a role. User administrators then assign the appropriate roles to the employee via the user master record so that the employee can use the respective transactions for his or her tasks in the company.

If you do not see the Expert Mode button for step 2 in the SU25 transaction, check whether you can call the expert mode from the SU24 transaction by clicking the Sample Value Match button. In this view, it is possible to select the proposed values to be matched by specific selections, so that not all proposed values are used for matching. In the first selection, you can choose the data to take. You can select here whether only SAP standard applications or customer or partner applications should be considered. You can still limit the selection by type of application, package, or component shortcut in the Other Constraints pane. In the Application Search pane, you can also limit the SU22 data to an upload file, transport jobs, or role menus.
Custom Permissions
In order to be able to act fully at all times in emergency situations, an SAP emergency user must be available who has all authorizations for the entire SAP system (typically by means of the composite profile SAP_ALL). However, this not only makes him a great help, but also extremely dangerous, so that his use must be precisely regulated via a dedicated concept.

Custom programmes should be protected with permissions, just like standard applications. What rules should you follow? Introductory projects usually produce a large number of customised programmes without being subjected to a permission check when they are executed. For your programmes, you should create custom permissions checks by default and manage them accordingly.

For the assignment of existing roles, regular authorization workflows require a certain minimum of turnaround time, and not every approver is available at every go-live. With "Shortcut for SAP systems" you have options to assign urgently needed authorizations anyway and to additionally secure your go-live.
