Trace after missing permissions
Sustainably protect your data treasures with the right authorization management
In SAP systems you always have the possibility to integrate custom developments. In such extensions or your own programmes, you must implement permission checks and may also create your own authorization objects. You can also supplement authorisation checks in standard transactions if the existing checks do not cover your requirements.

However, the greatest advantage is the consistent use of reference users for performance. The use of reference users reduces the number of entries per user in the user buffer, i.e. in the USRBF2 table. This is because the entries in the user buffer only have to be stored once for the reference user and not more times for the inheriting users. This reduction in the table contents of the USRBF2 table will improve performance when performing eligibility tests.

Further changes can be found when using the proof of use. When you click on the button (proof of use), you will receive a new selection. You can check which permissions, SU24 suggestion values, or SU22 suggestion values the authorization object uses. The ABAP-Workbench selection, as in previous releases, provides you with the proof of use for implementing the authorization object in programmes, classes, and so on. You can use the SAP NEW Data button to mark whether this authorization object is relevant to an SAP New role of a particular release.

When creating the permission concept, a naming convention is defined for PFCG roles. Every customer has his own preferences or specifications, which must be adhered to. According to our project experience, some naming conventions are particularly attractive. Naming conventions for PFCG roles can be very diverse. You will have noticed that even the roles provided by SAP do not correspond to a uniform naming convention. So there are roles whose names start with SAP_. There are also roles, such as for the SRM system, that start with the /SAPSRM/ namespace. In this tip we would like to give you some hints and criteria that you can use to help define a naming convention of PFCG roles.

For the assignment of existing roles, regular authorization workflows require a certain minimum of turnaround time, and not every approver is available at every go-live. With "Shortcut for SAP systems" you have options to assign urgently needed authorizations anyway and to additionally secure your go-live.

At www.sap-corner.de you will also find a lot of useful information on the subject of SAP authorizations.

The amount of your licence costs will be determined during the current operation, depending on the number of users and the features used in the SAP software.

In SAP systems, the authorization concept is the key element used to secure access to company data and manipulation of the system.
